The Percs of Being is the debut release from Lunakyn - a collaborative project between Sydney artists Lex Barlin & Guides.

The record flows from eerie ambiences populated with mechanical organisms to large industrial spaces cluttered with breaks and drones.

The 'Intro', 'Interlude' and 'Outro' were birthed of the same 2 hour long conversation between the Moog and the Clouds. They glue the rest of the work together by undulating the intensity of various energies presented.

'Rainbow Spotted Goanna Dance', an ode to the bush and the doof. Filled with hypnotic chords, gritty drums, dubby echoes and distant voices. This piece drops us with dirty feet into the middle of the forest-floor at 6am as the sun rises behind the canopy.

'Easier' is a solo work by one half of Lunakyn - Lex Barlin. An experiment in rhythm and slowly evolving sound objects. This track teleports the listener to a new realm soaring above the cosmos, riding on elegantly grainy pads, exploring the struggles of growing up.

Like 'Easier', track 4 titled 'Nebula' is a solo work by the other half of Lunakyn - Christian Guidone aka Guides. Nebula is a particularly potent hit of acid; a one-way ticket to orion. Time-stretched rhythms and gooey synth lines reverberate through the skull, making this one of the more up-close-and-personal tracks on the record.

'Madonna' takes us back down a notch into some slightly deeper and dubbier territory. Lurking in the shadows but punching harder than most with a ginormous kick and thick bass-line. The track's name comes from a Madonna sample used in the piece, though destroyed almost beyond identification - see if you can spot it.

The final heavy-hitter of the 8 tracks is 'Percs of Being'. This was one of the very first pieces Lunakyn ever created over a year ago now. It's a true testament to the wacky rhythms and experimental textures that Dialectic Recordings is found upon.
